Ask God For Everything

Memory verse – One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When He finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray…” Luke 11:1

Now we come to the part that seems easy to pray – give us food to eat today. What if we have lots of food in our freezers or refrigerators and cupboards – are we asking God to bring more?

Let’s think about this – He wants us to ask Him for everything we need to live on this earth and be part of His kingdom. This can be a whole lot more than food – a house, clothing, paper and pencils for school, so that we can learn to read and write. We also need more of His Word in our hearts and more of Him in our lives: spiritual bread. And because He’s our Father and we are His children, He delights in our asking Him for everything we need.[1]

Think about what things you need to live here on this earth. Talk about it as a family. Then, pray about those needs.

Action and Prayer points – Consider these questions:

  • What do you have that you can share?
  • Do you know of things other people need?
  • Could you ask God for those things for them?

[1] Psalm 35:27; Psalm 149:4
