Forgiving Others

Memory verse – One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When He finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray…” Luke 11:1

Last time, we talked about asking God to forgive us and also any person whom we have hurt, to forgive us. Today, we will look at the next part of verse 4 in Luke 11. “…and we also forgive everyone who has sinned against us.”

Let’s think this one over. Jesus did not say, when you feel like it, forgive everyone. Nor did He say when they come to you and ask you for forgiveness, forgive them. And, He did not say forgive only those you like as friends. Nope, He said forgive everyone.

  • Why do you think Jesus said this? (Look at Genesis 1:26 to help you answer this question.)
  • How does Jesus forgive us?[1]

Action and Prayer point – Talk with God right now and ask Him to show you the people you need to forgive. After He has shown you, make time this week to call or go to their house and forgive them. If that is impossible, forgive them in your heart.

[1] 1 John 1:9
