Keep Us From Temptation

Memory verse – One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When He finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray…” Luke 11:1

Now comes the last part of Jesus’ teaching on prayer. Let’s go to Matthew 6:13 to help us understand. Jesus says we should ask God to not lead us into the temptation to sin, but rescue us from it.

One way I pray for God to help me with temptation is this.  I ask God to give me a huge doubt when temptation comes into my mind.  Then, when He does, I ask Him about the thought, and He tells me in my heart that the thought is wrong.  Usually, He even tells me what I ought to be thinking and doing! He is taking me out of it![1]

Action and Prayer point – Today, as you talk with God in prayer, ask Him to help you to not sin and to keep you out of sin’s way. He really loves you and wants to help you because He is your Father![2]

[1] 1 Corinthians 10:13

[2] If you did the suggested project from Lesson 24 – looking up the name “Father” on Biblegateway.com, review a few of the verses you found for further meditation on God as Father.

Here’s one to get you started from the New Testament:

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James1:17
